Introduction
A trek that takes you to the Land of Meditation, which is at the height of 14,640 ft and the source of holy river Ganga. This trek gives a feeling of spirituality within yourself; this is one of the most thrilling and spiritual treks.
The Gaumukh Tapovan trek lies in the Gangotri National Park in Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand, India. This starts from the sacred town Gangotri, which is one of the four pilgrimages. As you leave Gangotri, the landscapes start changing. You walk through chir and deodar trees, and then it opens into open rocky terrain, where you will see many streams on the way which meet the river Bhagirathi.
This trek has huge mountain views of the Bhagirathi sisters, Mt Meru, Mt Shivling, Sumeru Parvat and Sudarshan Parvat, which stand tall in front of you, making you feel very tiny.
This trek has 3 beautiful campsites where you stay. First is Chirbasa, which is surrounded by Chir pine trees and the roaring sound of the Bhagirathi River. The second is Bhojbasa, which is known for birch trees. Third is last but not least: the most majestic spiritual stay on the sacred land Tapovan, where you can perform yoga and meditate.
What Makes This Trek Different from Other Himalayan Treks
In this trek you just don’t trek. You meet the deep Himalayas. Also, you witness Gaumukh, which is the originating place of the river Bhagirathi (Ganga). This river has different and special significance in Indian mythology.
Gaumukh Tapovan is a river trek; all the way you walk along the river Bhagirathi like you follow till her origin. That makes it different from others.
